The annual exam is a preventive physical check-up for your pet. It's an important part of any wellness program because it gives us a chance to examine your pet and catch health issues before they become more serious.
When frequently diagnosed problems such as dental disease, obesity, kidney disease and hypothyroidism are caught early, treatment will be more effective. The annual check-up ensures you're giving your pet the best opportunity for a healthy, happy life.
Your veterinarian may want to see your pet more frequently depending on your pet’s age and condition.
Remember... early detection is key!
What is an Annual Exam?
The exam includes an overall review of your pet's body condition. A thorough physical exam is performed including eyes, ears, mouth, abdomen, lymph nodes, skin, muscles, bones, heart, and lungs. In some cases, we may also do a rectal examination.
Since animals don’t talk, any information you can tell us about problems your pet is having is very important in helping us diagnose disease.
Your veterinarian will discuss which vaccines are appropriate for your pet at this time.
What if You Find Something Wrong?
Early detection is the key to successful treatment. A system of regular exams and paying close attention to changes in your pet's appetite, weight, and energy level can help prevent more serious problems. If we do find something abnormal in the check-up, we'll discuss the issue with you thoroughly, and provide relevant information. We will go over all your treatment options so you can make the best decisions for your pet and your family.
